San Ramon, Calif., June 28, 2004 — Global Inventures, Inc., a recognized leader in providing incubation, structuring, and operational services to collaborative communities in the technology industry, announced the addition of the Wireless Industrial Networking Alliance (WINA) to its steadily growing list of clients.
Supported by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), WINA was formed to help industrial end-users access clear, unbiased technical information on comprehensive wireless solutions. Rather than focusing on one specific wireless-delivery technology, WINA will help industrial end-users — from industries as varied as pharmaceutical, aerospace, climate control, and chemical processing — cut through the mass of options in the wireless networking world and identify the wireless technologies truly optimized for their needs. Members of WINA seek to avoid substantial consulting fees and costly mistakes by having access to the best intelligence available in the wireless industrial networking space.
Realizing the importance of such an organization, Global Inventures is pleased to welcome WINA as a new client and looks forward to helping WINA achieve its goals by providing services that assist in the incubation, structure and operation of the Alliance. Global Inventures will provide operational services for WINA, including Virtual Business Services for account management, financial management, membership services, and administrative support. In addition, Global Inventures will provide executive management, marketing and communications, event planning, and Web/IT services as needed by WINA.
“WINA represents a tremendous opportunity for end-users and technology providers alike by bringing together the best solutions in a consultative environment at a fraction of the cost of traditional consulting. WINA is poised to provide an invaluable service to the industrial sector by providing valuable insight into the best ways to integrate wireless sensors into new and existing products, vehicles, plants, and facilities,” said Christian Jorgensen, Executive Director for WINA. “While at SENSORS EXPO this month, I repeatedly saw a typical cost of $2,000 per foot to install wired sensors in an industrial environment. Wireless sensors and networking options that can be provided at a fraction of these costs are available now from WINA members who have the experience from having successfully completed such installations many times in the past. Participation in WINA is a WIN-WINA opportunity!”
By collaborating to develop missing standards or strengthen existing ones, Global Inventures is continuing to drive innovation in the broadband and networking market. Global Inventures manages collaborative communities representing a complete spectrum of complimentary technologies for networking in the consumer market, including the WiMedia™ Alliance (wireless multimedia networking), MoCA™ (multimedia over coaxial cable systems), HomePlug Powerline Alliance (powerline networking) and HomePNA™ (networking over home phonelines). With the addition of WINA, Global Inventures is extending its leadership in the industrial-networking segment, which already includes the ZigBee™ Alliance (low-power–consuming wireless monitoring and control products).
